A popular hard shell tent for easy camping

The main reason many people choose the Desert Cruiser is that it combines the major benefits of a hard shell tent with a very low and aerodynamic design. The tent is only 19 cm high when closed, making it much sleeker on the car than many traditional soft shell roof tents. This helps reduce wind resistance, wind noise while driving and gives the car a smoother feel on the road.

Fast setup and pack-down

Desert Cruiser is designed to be easy to use. Thanks to the robust gas struts, the tent opens in under 60 seconds and is just as easy to pack down again. Since it is a hard shell tent, you avoid loose travel covers, separate window poles and unnecessary steps that take time – especially useful when the weather is not on your side or when you want to get going quickly in the morning.

Crossbars included – bring more gear

A major advantage of the Desert Cruiser is that you can carry gear on top of the tent. Two Wild Land Crossbars V4 are included and mounted directly onto the aluminium shell, making it possible to bring bikes, a kayak, solar panels or extra gear that does not fit inside the car. This makes the model especially practical for longer trips, smarter packing and more flexible use of your vehicle.

Low profile with a practical compromise

The low profile is one of the Desert Cruiser’s biggest strengths, but it also means there is not as much room for bedding inside the tent when closed as in some taller models. Duvets can normally be left inside, but pillows usually need to be stored in the car. For many, this is a small compromise in exchange for a significantly thinner, quieter and more aerodynamic tent on the roof.

Large windows, good ventilation and great views

The tent has large side windows that provide plenty of natural light, great views and effective airflow. The windows are equipped with both mosquito mesh and blackout panels, making it easy to adapt the tent to the weather, temperature and how much privacy or light you want. The good ventilation also helps reduce condensation during the night.

Stable even when it is windy

Because the hard shell sits on the side when the tent is open, it can be used as a natural wind shield. By positioning the hard shell towards the wind, you get a more protected feeling inside the tent. For extra security, storm poles are also included and can be mounted by the gas struts in stronger weather or when carrying load on top of the shell, helping to reduce strain on the gas struts over time.

Comfortable and thoughtfully designed inside

Inside, you get a two-layer high-density mattress with 3 cm of soft comfort and 4 cm of insulating foam, giving a good combination of support, warmth and comfort. The tent also has built-in dimmable LED lighting that connects easily to a power bank, as well as practical details such as shoe bags, storage pockets and a telescopic ladder with a ladder bag to help keep the tent cleaner when the ladder is packed away.

Desert Cruiser is made from durable ripstop polyoxford with a UV-protected and silver-coated surface, tri-layer construction, reinforced 600D polyester and a robust aluminium frame.
